Peacock is NBCUniversal’s streaming service, bringing together television shows, movies, Peacock Originals, live sports, news programming, and scheduled streaming channels. Its strongest appeal comes from content connected to NBC, Bravo, Universal Pictures, and NBC Sports.

Peacock is not simply another Netflix-style on-demand library. Readers who are new to cord-cutting can begin with my explanation of what a video streaming service is and how it works. It combines modern streaming with parts of the traditional television experience. You can choose a movie or series whenever you want, watch selected sporting events live, or browse Peacock Channels when you would rather find something already playing.

The service previously offered a free viewing tier, but its current lineup consists of three paid plans: Peacock Select, Peacock Premium, and Peacock Premium Plus. The right plan depends largely on whether you want only NBC and Bravo television, the complete Peacock library, or fewer commercials and offline downloads.

For viewers who enjoy NBC and Bravo programming, Universal movies, Premier League soccer, Sunday Night Football, and other NBC Sports coverage, Peacock can provide considerable value. However, viewers primarily interested in broad movie selection or a large catalog of high-profile Originals may prefer—or need to combine it with—another streaming service.

What Can You Watch on Peacock?

Peacock’s catalog is built around the NBCUniversal family of entertainment brands. That gives the service a recognizable combination of current television, older favorites, reality programming, movies, Originals, and sports.

NBC and Bravo viewers are among the audiences most likely to appreciate Peacock. The service carries television favorites from those networks, along with earlier seasons and selected classic series. Its library can be especially appealing to viewers who enjoy familiar programs but no longer receive NBCUniversal cable channels through a traditional television package.

Peacock also offers movies from Universal and other studios, although titles can enter and leave the service as licensing agreements change. The movie catalog combines newer releases, established hits, family selections, and older films rather than concentrating entirely on one genre.

Peacock Originals add exclusive series, films, documentaries, and reality programming. The number of Originals is not as extensive as Netflix’s catalog, but Peacock’s combination of exclusive programming and familiar NBCUniversal content gives it a different identity.

Live sports are one of Peacock’s greatest strengths. Depending on the season and broadcasting rights, its coverage can include Premier League soccer, Sunday Night Football, golf, cycling, motorsports, college sports, and other NBC Sports events. Because sports rights and schedules can change, viewers should check Peacock’s current sports schedule before subscribing for one particular team or event.

Peacock also includes scheduled streaming channels. These channels recreate some of the traditional channel-surfing experience by continuously playing news, comedy, reality television, sports highlights, and programs centered on particular shows or themes. They are convenient when you want to start watching without first choosing a specific episode.

Peacock Plans and Pricing

Peacock currently offers three subscription plans: Select, Premium, and Premium Plus. Select is the least expensive option, but it is limited mainly to television shows. Viewers who want Peacock’s movies, Originals, or live sports will need Premium or Premium Plus.

Peacock Select

Peacock Select is the service’s lowest-priced plan. It includes television favorites from NBC, Bravo, and other participating NBCUniversal brands, but programming is supported by commercials.

The important limitation is what Select leaves out. It does not include live sports, movies, or Peacock Originals. Peacock also does not advertise Select as including a live local NBC station. That feature requires Premium Plus.

Select may be suitable for viewers who mainly want NBC and Bravo television programs. However, Premium costs only $3 more per month and provides Peacock’s movies, Originals, and live sports, making it the better value for many households.

Peacock Premium

Peacock Premium includes the full range of Peacock television programming, movies, Peacock Originals, and live sports and events. Commercial breaks remain throughout the service.

This will probably be the best plan for most viewers because it provides Peacock’s main entertainment and sports features without the considerably higher Premium Plus price.

Peacock Premium Plus

Premium Plus includes everything offered with Premium while removing commercials from most on-demand programs. It is not completely ad-free. Regular advertisements remain during live sports, special events, streaming channels, the live NBC station, and a small number of shows and movies.

Premium Plus also allows subscribers to download eligible titles to supported phones and tablets for offline viewing. Not every Peacock title can be downloaded.

Another significant benefit is access to a live local NBC station where available. The station is selected according to the location of your streaming device and includes regular commercial breaks.

Which Peacock Plan Is the Best Value?

Peacock Premium is the best choice for most households. It includes movies, Originals, and live sports for only $3 more per month than Select.

Choose Select when you mainly want NBC and Bravo television shows and do not need movies, Originals, or sports. Choose Premium Plus when reducing on-demand commercials, downloading eligible programming, and receiving a live local NBC station are worth the additional monthly cost.

Peacock Features

Peacock allows up to three simultaneous streams on one account, which should be enough for many couples and smaller households. Families can also create as many as six individual profiles, including Kids profiles, so recommendations and watchlists do not have to be shared by everyone.

Peacock works with many popular smart TVs, streaming devices, phones, tablets, gaming systems, and web browsers. Anyone upgrading an older television can compare the best streaming devices for every budget in 2026.The exact picture quality depends on the program, device, internet connection, and available video format.

Premium Plus subscribers can download eligible shows and movies on supported phones and tablets for offline viewing. Not every title is downloadable, so travelers should check the download symbol before depending on a particular program for a trip.

Peacock vs. Other Streaming Services

Peacock competes most effectively as a companion service that can be combined with other streaming services for cord-cutters, rather than serving as the only subscription in a household. It is particularly attractive for viewers who already know they want NBC, Bravo, Universal, or NBC Sports content.

Peacock’s strongest distinguishing feature is the way it combines familiar network television with affordable live sports and on-demand entertainment. That combination may matter more than the total size of its library.

For me personally, I love college basketball! Peacock covers a lot of college basketball! It streams selected college basketball games nationwide, including matchups from the Big Ten, Big East, and Big 12. Coverage is not limited to a viewer’s local region, but Peacock does not carry every game from those conferences. However, they do cover nearly 200 men’s and women’s games across those conferences.

Who Should Subscribe to Peacock?

Peacock is a strong choice for:

• NBC and Bravo viewers
• Premier League and NBC Sports fans
• Viewers who enjoy Universal movies
• Households seeking an affordable secondary service
• People who miss browsing scheduled television channels
• Travelers who will use Premium Plus downloads

It may be less suitable for viewers who want a completely commercial-free experience, a very large Originals catalog, extensive local television coverage, or a complete replacement for cable.

Peacock is a strong choice for viewers who enjoy NBC and Bravo shows, Universal movies, Peacock Originals, and live NBC Sports coverage. Choose Select when television shows are all you need, Premium for the best balance of content and price, or Premium Plus when reduced advertising, offline downloads, and a live local NBC station are worth the added cost.
