FuboTV has created a niche for themselves that puts them in the position as the live TV service for sports fans. But what started as a sports oriented streaming service, providing lots of soccer games, has now blossomed into a full-fledged service offering hundreds of entertainment, news, and lifestyle channels combined with an impressive sports package.

With an astonishing lineup of 190+ channels, including regional sports networks, FuboTV aims to capture the attention of cord-cutters who crave comprehensive sports coverage alongside regular programming. But it’s not just about the total number of channels they carry. FuboTV’s channel variety adds real value for viewers looking for niche sports networks like combat sports, billiards, lacrosse, pickleball, snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding. Fubo TV offers at least one dedicated channel to each of these sports and more.

One change that seems to be sweeping through the streaming services, as well as Fubo TV, is going to unlimited cloud DVRs. This will allow subscribers to record as much content as they want without worrying about space. Add to that the option for up to 10 simultaneous streams, and you’ve got a service designed for large households or roommates with diverse viewing preferences.

FuboTV has its warts though! It lacks some major channels like TBS, TNT, and HGTV, and the absence of A&E networks is noticeable. On top of that, new members are required to sign up for quarterly plans, which might be a deal-breaker for those who prefer a month-to-month commitment. But it is still better than cable and satellite carriers, that usually require a two-year commitment.

Fubo TV’s higher price point compared to competitors like YouTube TV and Hulu with Live TV can also be a sticking point. However, for those who put a premium on sports content and comprehensive channel offerings, FuboTV still stands out. The sports content alone has me thinking of going to Fubo TV, I have to have Bally Sports Midwest for Cardinal’s baseball, Blue’s Hockey and Pacer’s basketball.

This review aims to dissect what FuboTV brings to the table—both the highs and the lows—to help you decide if it’s the right fit for your streaming needs.

Key Features and Offerings

FuboTV is stacked with features designed to enhance your viewing experience. First off, the channel lineup is pretty impressive, boasting over 190 channels. Whether you’re into local networks, top cable brands, or specialized sports channels, there’s something here for everyone. If you’re a sports junkie, FuboTV is a dream come true. With regional sports networks, like Bally Sports, and niche sports channels such as MLB, NHL, and skateboarding, Without any doubt, it’s a paradise for fans of all types of sports.

For those who appreciate high-quality video, FuboTV supports some 4K content, although it’s limited to around 130 events and sadly isn’t recordable. Generally, most content streams at up to 1080p, which is on par with other streaming services. Now, unlimited Cloud DVR storage is a standout feature. No need to pick and choose what to save – you can record everything, which is fantastic if you love stockpiling shows for a binge-watch session later. For me this is quite important, I watch my shows on my schedule, not anyone else’s!

Device compatibility is robust. You can stream FuboTV on web browsers, iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Vizio, Samsung Smart TVs, and even Xbox. The only major platform missing here is PlayStation 4, which might be a letdown for some. When it comes to user interface, FuboTV nails it with a slick and straightforward design. Navigation is smooth, with dedicated tabs for live TV, sports, movies, shows, and recordings. Fast search functionality makes finding content a breeze. Plus, the ability to favorite channels and manage your DVR makes the overall experience quite enjoyable.

FuboTV offers tons of content but lacks original programming compared to services like YouTube TV and Hulu with Live TV. Still, the wide range of channels, combined with unique sports content, provides significant value. The inclusion of some 4K events gives it a slight edge, even if the 4K content is relatively limited. The robust and user-friendly interface helps clinch the deal for many users, making FuboTV a solid choice for both sports fans and general viewers.

Subscription Plans and Pricing

Understanding the subscription options and the associated costs is crucial for deciding if FuboTV fits within your budget. FuboTV offers three main plans: Pro, Elite, and Premier. The Pro Plan, priced at $79.99 per month, provides access to 190+ channels and comes with unlimited Cloud DVR storage. This plan suits most users who want a broad range of channels without extras.

The Elite Plan costs $99.99 per month and adds over 50 channels to the lineup, including some 4K content. It’s a good option if you’re looking for more variety in entertainment and niche channels. The Premier Plan, coming in at $109.99 per month, boasts a whopping 270+ channels. This is for the user who wants it all and doesn’t mind paying a premium for the comprehensive selection.

But there’s a catch. New members are required to sign up for quarterly plans, removing the flexibility of a month-to-month commitment. This could be off-putting for those who prefer not to be locked into long-term plans right off the bat.

Then there are additional fees for regional sports networks (RSNs), ranging from $11 to $14 extra per month if you want access to one or more of these channels. While this cost is standard among services offering RSNs, it’s another expense to consider when budgeting.

FuboTV also provides various add-ons like Showtime, Starz, and specialized sports packages such as NFL RedZone and International Sports. These can easily increase your monthly cost but allow for customization based on viewing preferences.

When you stack FuboTV’s pricing against competitors like YouTube TV and Hulu with Live TV, it is clear that FuboTV is on the pricier side. However, the extensive sports coverage, 4K options, and unlimited DVR space can justify the extra cost for many users. If you’re heavily vested in sports and enjoy the idea of a customizable plan, the price might be worth it. And it is still way less than the $200+ per month, most people will pay for cable.

User Experience and Feedback

Real experiences from users provide invaluable insights into what you can expect with FuboTV. Overall, feedback is a mixed bag, reflecting both praise and criticism.

One of the standout features, frequently mentioned in praise, is FuboTV’s DVR technology. Users rave about the unlimited storage, with many pointing out that it outperforms what competitors offer. You can record all your favorite shows and games without worrying about hitting a storage cap.

Sports fans often find FuboTV to be a goldmine. Many users express their satisfaction with the sports offerings, especially for niche sports and regional teams. If you’re passionate about Philly sports teams or crave NFL streaming, FuboTV might hit the mark. Some even claim that the service offers better value compared to YouTube TV because of its extensive sports coverage.

However, the high cost does not sit well with everyone. Numerous comments highlight that the pricing, reaching $75 or more, is steep compared to what is on offer. The lack of key channels like TBS, TNT, and AMC is another frequent complaint. These channels are staples for many, offering popular sports events like NHL and NBA games, along with entertainment shows.

Technical issues are another area of concern. Some users report problems with streaming, especially on devices like Roku and iPads. Bugs in the app since updates and overly compressed channels have also been flagged by several users. It’s not a widespread issue, but it’s notable enough to mention.

Customer service experiences seem to vary widely. While some have had smooth interactions, others have faced difficulties. Complaints include being unable to get refunds, poor service responses, or being charged even after canceling a free trial. However, there are instances where users have received discounts when they tried to cancel, which shows some flexibility in retaining customers.

Another common gripe is the randomness in channel availability and blackouts. Viewers have reported that some channels get dropped or aren’t available at random times, including local sports blackouts. This inconsistency can be frustrating, especially if you’re in the middle of a game or a binge-watch session.

Despite these mixed reviews, it’s clear that FuboTV has a dedicated user base, particularly among sports fans. The reliability of its DVR technology and the scope of its sports programming are significant draws.

Final Verdict on FuboTV

FuboTV certainly brings a lot to the table, especially for sports enthusiasts. The vast array of channels, including niche and regional sports networks, paired with unlimited Cloud DVR storage, makes it a compelling choice for those who prioritize sports content. The ability to stream on multiple devices and enjoy some 4K content are added perks that enhance the viewing experience.

However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The high cost and the lack of some popular channels like TBS, TNT, and HGTV are significant drawbacks. Plus, the quarterly plan requirement for new members might deter potential subscribers who prefer more flexibility. Technical issues and inconsistent customer service experiences also add to the list of concerns, making it essential for potential users to weigh these factors.

FuboTV is perfect for die-hard sports fans who can make the most out of the extensive sports coverage and unlimited DVR. If you’re someone who values having a wide variety of sports channels and doesn’t mind paying a bit extra for top-notch DVR capabilities, FuboTV could be the right fit.

On the other hand, if you’re more into general entertainment and depend on channels like TNT, HGTV, or AMC, you might want to look elsewhere. The higher price point and quarterly commitment could also be off-putting if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option. Services like YouTube TV or Hulu with Live TV may offer better value for general viewers.

All things considered, FuboTV excels in its niche. It’s not for everyone, but for those who prioritize sports and don’t mind the premium pricing, it’s a solid option. Weighing the pros and cons carefully will help you decide if FuboTV is worth the investment. And as I have said before, you can always combine Fubo TV with Philo or whoever to pick up some of those channels you are missing. Combining two services is still quite a bit less expensive than cable!

As always, if you have any questions or comments for me, leave them below and I will get back to you. I hope this helps you with your tv entertainment choices.

All the best,
